So, Breeze Airways is adding more routes to Vegas. Big deal. Another "discount leisure air carrier" trying to squeeze blood from the same damn stone. Excuse me while I stifle a yawn.
Let's dissect this PR fluff, shall we? David Neeleman, Breeze Airways’ founder and CEO, is quoted saying they're confident travelers will "enjoy our unique blend of convenience, comfort and affordability." Right. Because nothing screams "convenience" like flying into freakin' Twin Falls, Idaho, on a Monday or Friday. Who even goes to Twin Falls? Breeze Adds New Routes With Fares Starting at $39 One-Way
And "comfort"? On a discount airline? Please. I'm picturing cramped seats, screaming kids, and the faint aroma of stale coffee and desperation. It's gonna be like a flying Greyhound, only slightly less legroom and a higher chance of turbulence.
Then again, maybe I'm being too harsh. Maybe there are people out there clamoring for twice-weekly flights to Arcata/Eureka, California. Maybe...nah. I can't even finish that sentence with a straight face.
They're touting these "promotional fares" starting at $39. $39! Sounds amazing, right? Until you try to actually book one. Then you discover it's only available on Tuesdays at 3 AM, requires a blood sacrifice to the travel gods, and comes with more restrictions than a North Korean visa.

And don't even get me started on the "BreezeThru" service. One-stop, no-change-of-planes to Orange County through Vegas? So, you're still stuck in an airport, just for a shorter layover. Is that really something to brag about? I mean, is this the future of air travel or some kind of elaborate joke?
I should mention there's also service between Las Vegas and Lincoln, Nebraska. I'm sure the good people of Lincoln are thrilled. Breeze Airways launching 4 new Las Vegas routes
Oh, and ofcourse, these "promotional fares" must be purchased by November 10th and are only valid for travel from March 6th through May 12th. Because of course they are. The airline giveth, and the airline taketh away, usually with a hefty baggage fee.
Breeze flies Airbus A220-300 jets that carry up to 160 passengers. That's a lot of potential for discomfort.
Let's be real: This ain't about convenience or comfort. It's about filling seats and making money. Breeze is preying on people's desire for cheap travel, dangling the illusion of a getaway in front of them like a carrot on a stick. And yeah, maybe some folks will score a decent deal and have a pleasant flight. But for most of us, it'll be just another reminder that you get what you pay for. And sometimes, even less.
